  Nigeria’s Super Falcons Thursday defeated 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup co-host, Australia’s Matildas 3-2.  Goals from Oshoala, Ohale and Kanu were enough to help the Super Falcons earn their first victory. The Super Falcons are the only African team to have avoided defeat having won against Australia and drew 0-0 to Canada. Banks have been directed by the Central Bank of Nigeria to vacate a post-no-debit restriction placed on the bank accounts of 440 individuals and companies. This is coming two years after the apex bank instructed banks to freeze accounts of 18 companies, ranging from bureaux de change (BDCs), construction firms, investment companies, laundering services, and property companies. The affected companies at the time include Bakori Mega Services, Ashambrakh General Enterprise, Namuduka Ventures Limited, Crosslinks Capital and Investment Limited, IGP Global Synergy Limited, Davedan Mille Investment Limited and Urban Laundry. The Nigerian Army clarifies arrest, says detention of soldier not for converting from Islam to Christianity. Army said the soldier is in custody for violation of some provisions of the Armed Forces Act. It disclosed the soldier absconded for about six and a half months, resulting in the declaration of the soldier on Absence Without Official Leave (AWOL).
