Christmas: Senator Natasha Distributes Over 2,000 Bags of Rice to Kogi Central Constituents

In the spirit of Christmas and goodwill, the Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, on Tuesday distributed over 2,000 bags of 25-kilogramme rice to constituents across the district. NAFDAC Bans Indomie Vegetable Flavour Noodles Over Undeclared Allergen Risk

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has banned Indomie Instant Noodles – Vegetable Flavour following the discovery of undeclared allergens in the product. According to NAFDAC, laboratory analysis revealed the presence of milk and egg allergens in the affected Indomie Vegetable Flavour noodles, despite these substances not being declared on the product’s label. The agency warned that this poses a serious health risk, particularly to individuals with food allergies. NAFDAC explained that undeclared allergens can trigger severe allergic reactions, including breathing difficulties, skin reactions, and in extreme cases, life-threatening complications. Consumers who are allergic to milk or eggs are especially advised to exercise caution. The regulatory body has directed that all affected packs be withdrawn from circulation nationwide. President Tinubu Set To Import Food From Outside Country If Hunger Persists

President Bola Tinubu government has said yesterday it was considering importation of food as a critical option on the table to halt the high cost of items in the country in order to ameliorate the sufferings of Nigerians. In the interim, the government has ordered the immediate release of 102,000 metric tonnes of rice and maize from national grain reserve. The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this while briefing State House correspondents after a meeting of the Special Presidential Committee on Emergency Food Intervention at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. He said the President has directed that food would be made available, no matter whatever it will take. As early as 7am on Monday, a group of women blocked Minna-Bida Road at the popular Kpakungu roundabout to express their grievances over the rising cost of food items. They were later joined by men, who stopped vehicles from moving. Efforts by the police to control the crowd almost resulted in violence as protesters asked police to leave, forcing the police to fire several shots in the air. One of the youths, Ibrahim Gana, said rice was sold at the cost of N2,000 per mudu at Minna markets while maize was N1, 000 per measure. “The Federal Government needs to take action to reduce the hardship being faced by the poor Nigerians.
