President Tinubu cuts cost of governance

President Tinubu cuts cost of governance  President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has slashed  the number of people accompanying him on local and foreign trips by 60 percent to reduce cost of governance.  The directive announced today by  Special Adviser on Media, Ajuri Ngelale also affects the Vice President Kashim Shettima and the First Lady. Henceforth only 20 people will accompany the President on foreign trips and five each for the VP and First Lady. On local trips, the President will have a                     25-man entourage, 15 for VP and 10 for First Lady.. President  Tinubu also directed that his security personnel be heavily reduced during visit to states in Nigeria as the security architecture in the states he is visiting would take charge of his personal security.  He warned that any minister or public servant that violates this directive would be sanctioned.

SCOAN: Characters interviewed Unfounded And Unknown To The Church The Synagogue Church of all Nations (SCOAN) has countered the BBC documentary on the late Temitope Babatunde Joshua, known as TB Joshua, founder of SCOAN. SCOAN described the documentary as unfounded, noting that the characters interviewed in the report were unknown to the church. The church, in a statement signed by its Public Affairs Director, Mr Dare Adejumo, said the statement was aimed at disabusing public minds from the report. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the BBC released a highly controversial and damning documentary on the late TB Joshua on Monday, accusing him of various crimes, including rape, against some members. Tunji-Ojo Launches Online Passport Application Portal

Nigerian first ever online application portal for international passport is due to be launched on Monday, January 8, 2024 by the Interior Minister, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo in Abuja. The minister held a demonstration session of the online portal on Friday with the Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service, Mrs Caroline Wura-Ola Adepoju. Also in attendance at the demo session were other key stakeholders and development partners. The session availed the opportunity to present and critically assess the automated passport application process; while constructive criticism were also entertained to ensure enhancement and improvement of the system. The online passport application portal has been developed for applicants from Nigeria and those from abroad.The passport are in two categories for both Nigerian and diaspora applicants. Court Orders EFCC to Pay Emefiele N100m for Unlawful Detention

The Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja has declared the prolonged detention of the former governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emfiele without trial as a flagrant violation of his fundamental. The court also slammed a total of N100m fine against the FG and the Economic Financial Crime Commission. Visblog.ng gathered that the judgment was given in a fundamental human rights suit filed by the former CBN governor following his prolonged detention in the custody of the Department of State Services. He asked the court to order the respondents to pay him N1bn damages and to restrain them from further arresting and or detaining him. The ex-CBN boss was arrested on June 10 shortly after his suspension by President Bola Tinubu. Listed as defendants in the suit were the Federal Government, the Attorney General of the Federation; the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, and its chairman. Lawmakers budget fresh N30bn for N’Assembly renovation

Lawmakers have budgeted an additional N30bn for the renovation of the National Assembly Complex in the 2024 Appropriation Bill. The N30bn earmarked for the renovation of the building was part of the N344.85bn budgeted for the National Assembly after they raised their allocations from N197.93bn. The N344.85bn, signed by President Bola Tinubu on January 1, is the highest ever allocated to the legislature. The additional N30bn brings to N60bn the amount being spent on the renovation of the National Assembly complex. The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, who is also the President of the National Assembly, had on June 30, 2023, declared that Tinubu would in December, last year inaugurate the N30bn different ongoing projects at the National Assembly. Akpabio said, “The entire complex of the National Assembly is like a construction site due to ongoing general renovation work and fresh projects which would, on completion, be inaugurated by President Bola Tinubu in December this year (2023).”...

OTTI HAS NO INTEREST IN WHO BECOMES EZE ARO - COMMISSIONER

The Abia State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Uzor Nwachukwu has dismissed the insinuation that Governor Alex Otti has a prefered candidate in the Eze Aro enthronement tussle in Arochukwu LGA of the State. Prince Nwachukwu made the clarification while addressing the press in Government House Umuahia in company of the Commissioner for Information and Culture Prince Okey Kanu and other members of the Executive Council who rose from the maiden New Year Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Alex Otti OFR. He said,  "His Excellency, the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti does not have any interest in who emerges as Eze Aro. Governor Allex Otti has no interest in who becomes the Eze Aro, he has no interest in the process.
