The Plateau State Police Command has rescued a 17-year-old malnourished girl, allegedly locked up in a goat pen by her aunt, for over one week in Rikkos, Jos North Local Government Area of the state.  A neighbour alerted the National Human Rights Commission in Jos after which the police were invited, leading to her rescue. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) gathered that the aunt was fond of maltreating and starving the girl, an orphan. Coordinator of the National Human Rights Commission in Plateau, Mrs Grace Pam, confirmed the girl’s rescue in a statement on Friday, November 18, 2022.  "The commission received information from an anonymous complainant that the girl was locked up on the balcony of a house by her aunt," she said.  “She was living with her grandmother before she came to the aunt’s house because the grandmother was ill and could not continue to care for her. Lady who jumped into Lagos Lagoon a DSS staff The lady who jumped into the Lagos Lagoon on Thursday afternoon has been identified as Adetutu Adedokun, a staff of the Department of State Services (DSS). According to the Uber driver, Adedokun had an argument with her boyfriend and in the heat of the altercation, she ordered him to stop and disembarked from the cab. She had alighted from a Uber taxi, headed towards the railings of the bridge and plunged into the lagoon. About four months ago, she was said to have received commendations from the DG, DSS, as the best unarmed combat operative in her set. The victim’s fiancé was also reported to have proposed to her a few weeks ago. Hushpuppi was sentenced to 11 years and 3 months in federal prison, US by Justice Otis Wright II, for conspiring to launder tens of millions of dollars from online scams. He'll however be spending nine years in prison because he had spent two years already. The instagram celebrity was also ordered to pay over $1.7m in restitution to two fraud victims.
