UNIVERSITY EDUCATION NOT FOR EVERYONE, GOVERNOR UMAHI

UNIVERSITY EDUCATION NOT FOR EVERYONE, GOVERNOR UMAHI We have come across a misleading publication in some quarters of the media with the caption, “University education not for everybody” and credited to the Chairman of Southeast Governors' Forum and Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Nweze Umahi, FNSE, FNATE. Ordinarily, we could have not responded to it but for clarity and benefit of unsuspecting members of the Public, we have elected to react. 1. The statement above is misleading in content and depicts a reverse meaning of the position of the Governor. 2. Governor Umahi advocated for every child to attain Secondary Education and Vocational learning as a benchmark for basic education in the country. This is to equip everyone, especially the less privileged with a survival kit that will enable such individuals to start earning before proceeding to higher education. It is highly in practice in many developed countries. Quoting him, “Every country strives to get at least secondar...

Bishop Kukah described the ticket as reprehensible and unacceptable. Speaking with Channels Television on Thursday, the Catholic Bishop insisted that the ticket was a setback to the country’s national integration. Against the clamour of Nigerians, the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu had picked Kashim Shettima as his running mate. While Tinubu is a Muslim from the Southwest, Shettima is a Muslim from the North. However, Kukah wondered if Muslims would accept a Christian-Christian presidential ticket. He said Nigerians would wait to hear what they have to say when the campaign starts. He said: “But moving forward, the question I have asked my friends who are Muslims, especially those who are from northern Nigeria, is a simple question: ‘Would Muslims in Ni...

WHY NIGERIAN MEN LIKE TO MARRY POOR WOMEN

WHY NIGERIAN MEN LIKE TO MARRY POOR WOMEN The story of this case will explain it to you. This man is successful and his wife is also successful. The husband and wife live in Lagos with their children. They normally have the usual disagreements that husbands and wives do have from time to time. On this occasion, they had one more disagreement. The man travelled to their village and reported his wife to the kinsmen. The kinsmen sent a letter to his wife, telling her to come to the village to explain herself. The woman wrote back to the kinsmen. In her reply, she warned them to never contact her over such things. And she told them that if they tried it next time, she would deal with them. The kinsmen read her reply. They didn't know what to do. They called another meeting and summoned the husband. When the husband came, they told him that the council of the umunna had imposed a fine on him - one goat, three fowls, three kegs of wine. He asked them why they were fining hi...
