  The federal government is set to implement five per cent inclusive excise duty on telecommunications services in Nigeria, a move that will make Nigerians pay 12.5 per cent tax on telecommunications services. Minister of Finance Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed made the announcement on Thursday July 28, at a stakeholders’ forum on implementation of excise duty on telecommunications services in Nigeria.  Speaking at the event organized by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Ahmed who was represented by the Assistant Chief Officer of the Ministry, Frank Oshanipin, said the five per cent excise duty has been in the Finance Act 2020 but was not implemented. The delay in its implementation according to the Minister, was as a result of government’s engagement with stakeholders.   APC Senator, Abbo backs move to impeach Buhari, gives reason Senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District, Ishaku Elisha Abbo, has backed the move to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari. Abbo said he fully supports the impeachment move against Buhari. On Wednesday, Senators of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and some of the opposition walked out of a Senate plenary session. The senators walked out over the refusal of the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan to discuss Buhari’s impeachment and a notice served to the president. The lawmakers moved to impeach Buhari due to the spate of insecurity in the country. The Senators gave Buhari six weeks to resolve the insecurity crisis in the country or they would be forced to impeach him. However, Abbo, while speaking with Channels TV, said: “I’m in full support of the impeachment move against the President. “The Nigerian leader has failed in his fundamental responsibility to secure the lives and property of the people.”

Apostle Suleman set to unveil Gistlover's identity The General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has reportedly uncovered the identity of the hands behind blog, Gistlover. This is coming days after the blogger accused Suleman of having an affair with multiple nollywood actresses and female celebrities. In his reaction, Suleman denied the allegations, slammed Gistlover and vowed that he would not be coward into silence by a 'nameless' publisher. He promised to bring the blogger he classified as 'blackmailer' down and end his 'blackmailing enterprise' and bring him to book.
