The National Inland Waterways Authority, NIWA, on Thursday, said over 65 per cent of cargo coming into Nigeria through the Lagos port ends up in Onitsha and Aba in the Southeast. Managing Director of NIWA, Dr George Moghalu, disclosed this when he featured at the 52nd Session of the State House Briefing organised by the Presidential Communications Team, at the State House, Abuja. He also said that everything is in place for the movement of Cargo in Onitsha River Port even though he explained that it is the owner of the cargo that will determine the movement. Moghalu, who was providing updates on the agency’s activities, however noted that the current road network infrastructure cannot withstand the sheer volume of traffic required to move cargo from the southeast to other parts of the country. Yesterday at the market, I was buying smoked fish when one small girl carrying okro passed. I was standing close to a woman who was also buying fish. The market was about to close. Bauchi students protest separation of boys from girls in their schools Male secondary school students in Bauchi State took to the streets today September 26 to stage a protest against the decision of the state government to separate male students from their female colleagues. The state Commissioner for Education, Aliyu Tilde, last week announced plans by the state government to separate male and female students in secondary schools. He added that the decision is aimed at addressing the moral decay which has become prevalent among students of secondary schools, and according to him, private schools are expected to key into the initiative and separate the males who would be attending their academic activities in one institution and the females in a separate institution. Emergency officials have shared more information on some of the victims of the building which collapsed in Lagos on Friday September 23.    It was reported earlier that the house located at 2/4 Oye Sonuga Street, Palm Avenue, Mushin, caved in on Friday, killing four persons.   The National Industrial Court has ordered the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), to call off the ongoing Strike. Delivering a ruling on the interlocutory injunction filed by the Federal government , Justice Polycarp Hamman restrained ASUU from continuing with the industrial action pending the determination of the suit. Justice Polycap who is a vacation judge ordered that the case filed be returned to the president of the Industrial Court for reassignment to another judge. This order comes a few hours after the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) threatened not to allow any political campaign hold across the country till students of public universities return to classrooms. Emmanuel Kanu, brother of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nmamdi Kanu, has voiced his concern over the health of the secession agitator. Kaduna Court Sends Five Fraudsters to Jail Justice Nasiru.U. Sadiq of the Kaduna State High Court has convicted and sentenced five internet fraudsters to various terms of imprisonment for cheating by impersonation. The fraudsters are Ephraim Andrew Maude (a.k.a Chris Hugo), Genesis Daniel (a.k.a Tyler Wine), Henriatta Kantona, George Funom Khah and Haruna Tisan Jeremiah.  They were jailed on  Monday,  September 19, 2022 after pleading guilty to one-count separate charge, bordering on internet fraud and cheating by impersonation, upon their arraignment by the Kaduna Zonal Command of the EFCC .
