The Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, Ignatius Kaigama, says media reports that Pope Francis approved blessings for same gender couples were untrue. Kaigama made the clarification in his homily during the Christmas Mass he conducted at Our Lady Queen of Nigeria Catholic Pro-Cathedral in Abuja on Monday. He described the report as mischievous disinformation and part of a deliberately orchestrated falsehood by the enemies of the Catholic Church in order to cause confusion among its members. The decision was announced by Mr. Ali Hassan Mohammed, the Public Relations Officer of the state-owned institution, in a statement released on Friday in Lafia. According to the statement, the Academic Board of IMAP convened on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, and reached the decision to rusticate the students for one academic session. The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has warned residents of Rivers State against getting involved in any political conflict without knowing the cause of such a fight. The minister made this known on Sunday while addressing the congregation during a thanksgiving ceremony for George Kelly Alabo, the immediate past Commissioner for Works at the Kings’ Assembly in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital. “Don’t get involved in any fight between two politicians without knowing the real cause of the quarrel,” Wike said. “In any facet of life, there are rules and they must be obeyed.
