Guber Election: Tinubu Calls For Free, Fair Poll, Presents APC Flags To Ododo, Sylva and Uzodima.

President Bola Tinubu has called for a free, fair and peaceful poll in the November 11 gubernatorial elections in Bayelsa, Kogi and Imo states. Tinubu made the call on Thursday, while presenting flags to governorship candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the gubernatorial election in the three States. The candidates include Timipre Sylva (Bayelsa), Hope Uzodinma (Imo) and Ahmed Usman Ododo (Kogi). The event, which was held inside the Banquet Hall of the State House, had the national chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Ganduje, other members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), and some guests of the candidates.

EFCC Bans Sting Operations at Night

In line with the newly-reviewed procedures on arrest and bail of suspects by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Ola Olukoyede has directed that sting operations at night time be stopped in all the Commands of the EFCC. He gave the directive in Abuja on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 in reaction to the arrest of 69 suspected internet fraudsters by operatives of the Ibadan Zonal of the Commission in Ile-Ife, Osun State. Already, many of the suspects duly profiled by the Command have been released, while profiling of suspects yet un-released will be completed, without further delay. The Commission wishes to assure the public that it will not relent in its adherence to the rule of law, in the exercise of its mandate.

Barrister Natasha Akpoti has been sworn in as Kogi Central Senator.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, supervised the oath of office administered to the new senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, during plenary on Thursday. She thereafter proceeded to have a handshake with the Senate President, who handed over to her a copy of the Senate Standing Rules. She was later led to her seat by the sergeant at arms after an exchange of pleasantries with her colleagues.    The Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, affirmed on Monday that Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, of the Peoples Democratic Party, was the duly elected candidate for the Kogi Central Senatorial Election on February 25, this year. The appellate court dismissed the appeal filed by Senator Abubakar Ohere for lacking merit. Earlier in September, the Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Lokoja nullified the victory of Ohere of the All Progressives Congress.
