The Managing Director/Chief Executive of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), Madu Hamman, has urged Nigerians to take advantage of the bank’s affordable loan offers on the 1,250 Housing-Unit FMBN Mega City in Abuja to own a home. Hamman, said this when he led a team of FMBN Management staff on an inspection visit to the 140-hectare FMBN Mega City project site located behind Mopol Barracks, Deidei, off Kubwa Expressway, Abuja on Tuesday, 16 August 2022. The project comprises of 650 3-bedroom units and 600 units of 2-bedroom bungalows and the project is said to be at a 90 percent completion level. “The work done on the project is satisfactory, and the infrastructure development is ongoing: road network, water reticulation, drainages, the access road to the project site. Teenage girl injected her boyfriend's HIV-positive blood into her body to prove her love for him The family of a teenage girl, who injected her boyfriend's HIV-positive blood into her body to prove her love for him, has sued their daughter's boyfriend. Last week, a 15-year-old girl from Assam in northeast India made news headlines because of the rash decision. The pair met through Facebook and had been together for around three and a half years prior to the injection, Kalinga TV reports. They had tried to run away together on multiple occasions in the past but the girl's parents had tracked them down to bring their daughter home each time. The boyfriend has now been detained by police while the girl is understood to be under the watch of doctors. The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, has said the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), is on strike due to an agreement reached with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led government in 2009. The Minister who stated this while speaking to journalists, said Nigerians should not blame the current APC-led government for the ongoing strike by ASUU. The All Progressive Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council spokesperson accused the PDP government of being irresponsible over its inability to fulfil the agreement signed with ASUU in 2009. The institution also announced the date for the commencement of academic activities for the 2021/2022 academic session which will be on Thursday, August 18, 2022.
