Ndayishimiye, a Catholic, described marriage between same-sex couples as an "abominable practice". "Personally, I think if we see these kind of individuals in Burundi we should put them in a stadium and stone them. And it would not be a sin for those who do," Ndayishimiye said in response to a question at a public event in the east of the country that was broadcast by Burundian media. He also criticised Western countries that urge smaller nations to allow gay marriage or risk losing aid, saying: "Let them keep their help, let them keep it."...

In a recent episode of Toke Makinwa’s podcast, the thespian explained that she can’t be in a toxic relationship. She said, “I am still single because I just want somebody that would really love me. That’s all. I’m not asking for too much. “Not like I don’t see love. Loving somebody and being loved are two different things. You can love someone but you are not ready to be committed. Maybe this is why I’m still single: I can’t be in a toxic relationship. “If you cannot give me that protective energy that allows me to respect you… I can not be with a man that I don’t respect. If you can not earn my respect, then we cannot be together. Because what’s the point? When it gets to the point when I start to disrespect you, that means you have brought yourself down to a point where I begin to talk back at you. Sometimes, it’s not even about having money. ...

Men don’t like ‘overly successful’ women - Iniobong Edo

“Some men are threatened by women’s strength. Because we can come off as if we are doing too much. First of all, you’re a woman, you’re beautiful, you’re here and there… “Naturally, men want to see you [women] not so overly successful just so that they can pull you around, you can be the woman, cook and clean and do all the basic things that they’ve grown up to know is expected of women. “So when you get too strong, it’s almost like you’re competing with their ego. But the truth is, like I always say, I like to be the queen. I’m not a woman who is looking to subdue any man or ride over any man. “No matter how successful I get, I don’t think I would like to have a man that I am lording over. Then what is the beauty of it? I mean, the beauty of it is me walking beside my man and he giving me instructions and protecting me.” She added that it is hard to find men who understand that successful women aren’t threats to their position as the head of the home.
