The 28-year-old is accused of attacking the woman, aged 24 at the time, at his £4m mansion in Mottram St Andrew, Cheshire, in October 2020. He is also accused of the attempted rape of another woman, aged 29 at the time, who said he also attacked her at his home two years before. The footballer denies both charges. The jury of six women and six men have been told by trial Judge Stephen Everett, the Recorder of Chester, that the France international was found not guilty of sexual offences alleged by other women after a trial that ended in January this year.   Man Breaks World Record For Longest Distance Run While On Fire Without Oxygen A 39-year-old French firefighter Jonathan Vero has broken a world record after running the longest distance in full-body burn without oxygen. According to Guinness World Records on Thursday, Vero ran 272.25 metres (893 ft) while in flames wearing a protective suit.  He broke the previous record of 204.23 metres (670 ft) set by Antony Britton of the United Kingdom. Jonathan, in doing so, also broke the record for the fastest full body burn 100 metres sprint without oxygen, clocking in at 17 seconds, beating the previous record by 7.58 seconds. FG introduces N1000 proof of ownership fee for  vehicles owners  The Federal Government has introduced a policy where all vehicles are expected to obtain a Proof of Ownership Certificate (POC). Unveiling the new policy at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre, Alausa, Lagos, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Engr AbdulHafiz Toriola, said the certificate which will come into force in Lagos state in July and that it would be part of requirements to be renewed annually. Prior to this new policy, Nigerians only obtain Proof of Ownership when they purchase a used vehicle or change the engine of your vehicle. Speaking about the new policy, Toriola explained that the POC policy would affect all classes of vehicles from motorcycle, to tricycle, to mini vehicles, saloon cars, all classes of trucks, articulated vehicles and such likes that coveys people or products from one point to the other. World Bank has approved the sum of $500m Federal Government loan request to help Nigeria drive women’s empowerment.  In a statement released, the  World bank stated that it gave approval for the loan to scale up financing for Nigeria Women Programme, which was initially approved on June 27, 2018, with $100m financing. The statement in part reads; “The World Bank has approved $500m for Nigeria for Women Program Scale Up (NFWP-SU). The scale-up financing will further support the government of Nigeria to invest in improving the livelihoods of women in Nigeria. The NFWP-SU will help to ensure better economic opportunities for women, which is essential for addressing gender inequality; guaranteeing better education, health, and nutrition outcomes for families; and building women’s and communities’ resilience to climate change.” This will be the second loan being approved by the World bank in the Tinubu administration.

A report from a subpoenaed witness who identified herself as an employee of Amazon Web Services Incorporated, USA, has been admitted as evidence by the presidential tribunal.  The witness who gave her name as Claretta Ogar, disclosed that she is a cloud engineer and architect. The report provided details of the health status of the cloud services offered to the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) digital backbone for the presidential election. The report revealed that there was no glitch that could have affected the e-transmission of results on February 25, 2023, when the presidential election was held.  The document totaling six copies was admitted by the court amid objections by INEC, Tinubu, Shettima, and the APC. The cross-examination of the witness is scheduled for Tuesday 20th June.

EFCC Has Not Declared Matawalle Wanted The attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has been drawn to a report, entitled, Alleged N70b Fraud: EFCC Declares Ex-Zamfara Gov, Matawalle Wanted, which appeared in the Sunday Tribune of June 18, 2023 and purports that the Commission had declared a former Zamafara State governor, Bello Matawalle wanted and requested the Department of State Service, DSS, to arrest him, “anywhere he is seen”. Without prejudice to the case involving the former governor, the report is incorrect as the Commission has yet to declare Matawalle wanted or solicit the assistance of any Agency, including the DSS, to effect his arrest.
