NAFDAC Bans Indomie Vegetable Flavour Noodles Over Undeclared Allergen Risk


The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has banned Indomie Instant Noodles – Vegetable Flavour following the discovery of undeclared allergens in the product.

According to NAFDAC, laboratory analysis revealed the presence of milk and egg allergens in the affected Indomie Vegetable Flavour noodles, despite these substances not being declared on the product’s label. The agency warned that this poses a serious health risk, particularly to individuals with food allergies.

NAFDAC explained that undeclared allergens can trigger severe allergic reactions, including breathing difficulties, skin reactions, and in extreme cases, life-threatening complications. Consumers who are allergic to milk or eggs are especially advised to exercise caution.

The regulatory body has directed that all affected packs be withdrawn from circulation nationwide. It also urged Nigerians to avoid purchasing or consuming Indomie Vegetable Flavour noodles until further notice.

Members of the public are encouraged to report any sightings or sales of the banned product to the nearest NAFDAC office or through the agency’s official reporting channels.

NAFDAC reiterated its commitment to food safety and warned manufacturers against non-compliance with labeling and safety regulations. The agency stressed that accurate ingredient disclosure is mandatory under Nigerian food safety laws.
