APC has disqualified four loyalists linked to Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara ahead of the party’s House of Representatives primaries in Rivers State.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disqualified four political allies linked to Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, from participating in the party’s House of Representatives primaries scheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2026.
The development was contained in the party’s final list of aspirants released on Friday ahead of the exercise.
Among those not cleared by the party are serving lawmakers in the House of Representatives, Awaji-Inombek Abiante and Boma Goodhead.
Abiante is widely known as one of the politicians who previously backed Governor Fubara during the political crisis in Rivers State.

The other aspirants disqualified from the contest are retired Air Commodore John Opera and Hon. Anderson Igbiki.
Amaewhule Among Cleared Aspirants
Meanwhile, the APC cleared 21 aspirants to participate in the primaries across different federal constituencies in Rivers State.
One of the notable names on the cleared list is the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, who is contesting for the Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency seat.
Amaewhule is expected to challenge for the position currently occupied by the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Kingsley Chinda.
APC Confirms Final List
The Rivers State APC Publicity Secretary, Chibike Ikenga, confirmed the release of the final list in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Friday.
According to the statement, the list was approved by the national leadership of the party ahead of the scheduled primaries.
“Aspirants are advised to take note of the released list and comply accordingly ahead of the scheduled primary election,” part of the statement read.
The APC primaries in Rivers State are expected to attract significant political attention amid the continuing realignments within the state’s political structure ahead of the 2027 elections.
