Chelsea Football Club has confirmed a major change to its ownership structure, with Clearlake Capital moving to full control of the Premier League club and Todd Boehly leaving his position as chairman.
The development brings an end to Boehly's four-year spell as one of the leading figures in Chelsea's ownership after the American businessman joined forces with Clearlake and other investors to acquire the club in 2022.
In a statement released by Chelsea, the club said affiliates of Clearlake Capital Group would acquire Boehly's ownership interest. The investment firm will also acquire Mark Walter's stake, giving it full control of the club.
Swiss businessman Hansjörg Wyss will remain an important stakeholder and partner within the ownership group, according to Chelsea.

Boehly became the public face of Chelsea's ownership after the consortium completed its takeover of the club in 2022. He subsequently served as chairman while the new ownership group began a major programme of investment across the club.

Confirming his departure, Boehly said it had been an honour to serve as chairman and thanked the Premier League, Chelsea's coaches and players, staff and supporters.
He also expressed confidence in the club's future under Clearlake's leadership.
