Adeleke’s Victory: What It Means for Democracy and the APC

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke’s victory in the governorship election has strengthened his political position in the state while giving the opposition another reason to celebrate ahead of the 2027 general election.

Adeleke defeated the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, after securing 511,067 votes in the election. Oyebamiji polled 444,815 votes, leaving the governor with a margin of 66,252 votes.

The result, as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), gave Adeleke victory in 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas, while the APC candidate won 11.
