Sports: A report has emerge from the telegraph
A blue card is to be introduced to football as sin-bin trials get set to take place in the sport.
That is according to the Telegraph, who reveal that the game’s lawmakers, International Football Association Board (Ifab), has signed off on the new card, that would be the first since the debut of the yellow and red card at the 1970 World Cup.
The move, which will be announced on Friday, by Ifab is part of sin-bin protocols, which will see players removed from the pitch for 10 minutes if they commit a cynical foul or show dissent towards a match official.
A cynical foul will be deemed one that prevents a promising attack.
Two blue cards, like current yellows, will add up to a red card, while a combination of blue and yellow will also lead to dismissal.
Initial testing will not take place in the professional game, in case further refinement is needed, but elite trials could begin as soon as this summer according to the report.
