How to Stop Masturbating

                                                   How to Stop Masturbating

Every week, several people inbox me asking for advice to stop masturbating. Masturbation causes regret, guilt and shame, and interferes with your prayer life. Not masturbating can increase your motivation, confidence, energy, mental clarity, and overall productivity.

Just like any other habit, masturbation becomes addictive with time. Masturbation can be triggered by watching porn, nude pictures or visiting strip clubs or talking casually about sex.

If you seriously want to stop masturbating, stop exposing yourself to nude pictures, porn and idle talk. Engage in physical activities. Physical exercises will activate endorphins, the ‘feel-good’ hormones. Stay engaged. Learn a new skill. Focus on personal development. Idleness triggers vanity.

As you go to bed, wear an extra layer of clothing to reduce the sensation if you rub yourself. The mere act of touching your naked genitals at night may mindlessly encourage you to masturbate.

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it (Proverbs 4:23). Replace all sexually provocative materials in your disposal with life transforming videos and books. Pray and fast to break this bondage. Ultimately, only the Lord can set you free from sexual lust.
