Mental illness is on the rise and it's not hard to see why. And unfortunately, a lot of people won't know where to turn for help.
A mentally ill person doesn't deserve to hear these words when they are struggling:
• "Everyone struggles"
• "You're not the only one"
• "It's just a phase"
• "Get over yourself"
• "It's all in your head"
They deserve to hear words like:
• "Are you ok?"
• "Can I help you in anyway?"
• "Would you like to talk about it?"
• "I am here for you"
Too ma
ny people follow the trend of 'copy and paste' when it comes to mental health posts. It goes beyond, "speak up if you are tired; talk to someone".
When people really start to struggle and go through a dark time, no one wants to be there for them. Yet everyone is fast to put a knife in their back or drag them down even lower.
"Like and Share" or "Copy and Paste" isn't going to save a friend or family member's life when they aree struggling.
But actually standing on your feet and being there for them might. Maybe try it once n a while. Maybe then we might just see a drop in suicide figures.
