Atiku Reacts "Suspend Chicago University Too” After Benin, Togo Cert Revocation"

The camp of Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, has slammed the federal government’s suspension of degree certificate evaluation and accreditation from Benin Republic and Togo, calling it a “deceptive” move that ignores a bigger problem. Reacting to the suspension announced on Tuesday, January 2nd, Atiku’s spokesperson, Abdul Rasheeth, took to social media, accusing the government of hypocrisy and selective action. “Universities in Benin and Togo are not the only ones culpable in certificate racketeering,” Rasheeth wrote. “Suspending their accreditation is nothing but deception! This isn’t the first time FG is doing that!” He pointed to Chicago State University (CSU) and its affiliates as a prime example of institutions allegedly involved in “nefarious means and unconscionable methods” of issuing degrees.

What Is Social Capital? SOMETHING TO LEARN IN 2024 AND BEYOND.

Modified by Visblog  The term social capital refers to a positive product of human interaction. The positive outcome may be tangible or intangible and may include favors, useful information, innovative ideas, and future opportunities. Social capital is not held by an individual, but instead appears in the potential between social network connections between individuals. There is something in life called " SOCIAL CAPITAL ." The people you know; the people who know you and how they know you.  Quite unfortunately, people think or behave like social capital is only needed on weddings, urgent issues, crisis and burials. That is why you see someone will not have contacted you in ten years but out of the blue they are sending you a message, "Hello so and so, long time. between, next Sunday is my pre-wedding. I need your support." Social capital is not built overnight; it is reciprocal and does not need money (especially in this virtually connected world) to build. It jus...

The Federal Government has suspended the accreditation and evaluation of degree certificates from Benin Republic and Togo.

This move followed a report detailing how a degree was acquired from a university in Benin Republic in under two months. “This report lends credence to suspicions that some Nigerians deploy nefarious means and unconscionable methods to get a Degree with the end objective of getting graduate job opportunities for which they are not qualified,” the spokesperson for the Ministry of Education Augustina Obilor-Duru said in a Tuesday statement. “The Federal Ministry of Education vehemently decries such acts and with effect from 2nd January 2024 is suspending evaluation and accreditation of degree certificates from Benin and Togo Republics pending the outcome of an investigation that would involve the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria and the two countries, the ministries responsible for Education in the two countries as well the Department of State Security Services (DSSS), and the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC).” The ministry is also calling on Nigerians to assist in providing in...

P’Harcourt refinery begins test-run, Rivers, 11 others get supply soon

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has commenced the supply of crude oil for the test-running of the Port Harcourt Refining Company Limited, the NNPCL officials said on Sunday. Oil marketers confirmed the development and stated that the plant would supply refined Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol, Automotive Gas Oil, otherwise known as diesel, as well as other products to 12 states including Abia, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Delta, among others. The NNPCL stated that the ongoing test-running of the plant would be completed shortly, adding that commercial production of refined products would also begin shortly. This came as experts and downstream operators stated that though the cost of refined products would reduce once the Port Harcourt and Dangote refineries start pumping out products, it would not lead to a massive price crash. On December 21, 2023, the Federal Government announced the mechanical completion of rehabilitation work on the Area-5 Plant of the Port H...

He also announced plans to provide Nigerians with reliable power supply, as well as petroleum products. According to him, his administration is working hard to alleviate the suffering of Nigerians. Reacting to the speech, Sani, a former senator who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the 8th Assembly, noted that the President did not set any time for any of the promises to take effect. He said, “The President’s speech is good and encouraging. It gives the kind of hope raised by Native Doctors; that you will be delivered from your sickness but no date.”
