Malawi To Send 5,000 More People To Work On Israel Farms.

Malawi’s plans to send over 5000 young people to engage in agricultural work in Israel despite the criticism President Lazarus Chakwera and his administration got for dispatching 221 young Malawians last weekend. "We are looking at an initial figure of around 5,000, that's what we are targeting now," Malawi Information Minister Moses Kunkuyu told the BBC Newsday programme earlier today. The minister defended the much-criticised move, saying that it was part of the government's ongoing program of providing employment to young people locally and abroad. "This has been happening in Malawi for decades and we've been exporting young people to countries in Africa and outside Africa," Mr Kunkuyu added. In a statement Malawian opposition leader Kondwani Nankhumwa said “Sending people to a war-torn country like Israel, where some countries are withdrawing their labour is something unheard of.”

EDO: Ahead of Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu’s formal declaration of his governorship ambition  in Benin City has cancelled his booking to use the hotel. The hotel, located in the Government Reserved Area, Benin, is owned by a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state. Shaibu was contacted by the management of the hotel that the space was no longer available for his use while his money was refunded. The hotel management was said to have told the Shaibu group that another group, ‘Obaseki finishing well group,’ had paid for the same venue. ABUJA C-of-O NOW REQUIRES NIN AND BVN, EXISTING LANDLORDS MUST RECERTIFY, SAYS WIKE The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, says obtaining a Certificate of Occupancy (C-of-O) in Abuja will now require a National Identification Number (NIN) and Bank Verification Number (BVN). Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Friday, Wike also noted that existing landowners in the capital must get recertification to incorporate these new features. According to the minister, he has been refraining from signing C-of-Os during his tenure as the FCT minister to introduce enhanced security measures, such as the inclusion of NIN for individuals and BVN for corporate bodies.
