We’ll focus on review of judges’ salaries to curb corr¥ption in judiciary — Pres. Tinubu President Bola Tinubu has assured of his administration’s commitment to concluding a thorough review of the remuneration of judicial officers in the country. The president said this while receiving the leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), led by Barrister Yakubu Maikyau (SAN), at the State House in Abuja on Thursday, August 25.  He said the b@ttle against corr¥ption necessitates a comprehensive review of the salaries and allowances of judicial officers, an issue that is well known to him, given his landmark success in reforming justice administration in Lagos State. Ajuri Ngelale, special adviser to the president on media and publicity, in a statement on Friday quoted the president as saying: “We must deal with the review of remuneration if we truly want to fight corr¥ption in the Judiciary. We will look at the cost, as well as the consequences.”

The Kaduna State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, (NYSC) Hassan Taura said that the Federal Government has approved an upward review of feeding allowance for corp members. The coordinator who made this known while fielding questions from journalists, shortly after the opening/swearing-in ceremony for the 2023 batch B stream 2 orientation course did not specifically disclose which of the corps member’s allowances was reviewed.  When asked what plans were made for the corps members in terms of welfare while in the orientation camp and beyond, he said “first, the federal government in its wisdom has reviewed the feeding allowance of the corps members.”  The coordinator who promised to prioritize corps members’ welfare in his state said, “I told them (corps members) I’m going to make their food of good quality and quantity. “I told them I will ensure that they won’t spend their money in the camp market. Wegner founder Prigozhin Dead: killed in plane crash in Russia A plane said to be carrying notorious warlord Yevgeny Prigozhin, whose Wagner group launched a failed coup against president Vladimir Putin in June, has crashed on a flight from Moscow to St Petersburg, according to Russian officials. All 10 people on the plane, including three crew members, died in the crash, Russia’s emergency ministry said, according to state newswire RIA Novosti. Russian officials said a man with Prigozhin’s name was among the passengers, without elaborating further.
