BREAKING: EFCC CHAIRMAN CONVICTED, SENT TO JAIL. The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has convicted the incumbent Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Abdulrasheed Bawa for contempt of court in relation to his agency’s failure to comply with an earlier order of the court for the EFCC to return a seized Range Rover and Fourty Million Naira (40,000,000.00) to the defendant in the case before the court. According to The Nation Newspaper, the Court ordered the Inspector -General of Police to ensure he be remanded in Kuje prison immediately.

PHOTONEWS;  Tanzanian Fisherman Gets Cash Gift, Job For Saving 24 Lives A Tanzanian fisherman, Jackson Majaliwa, who was among the first responders who helped rescue 24 passengers from the airplane that crashed into Lake Victoria on Sunday has been awarded a cash gift of $428 (equivalent of Tsh1 million) and a government job. According to Eastern Africa, the Kagera Regional Commissioner, Albert Chalamila, handed over the cash to the fisherman from the lakeside town of Bukoba on Monday. While some of the passengers of the plane were rescued alive, 19 died. The Federal Government said the train services on the Abuja-Kaduna rail line are set to return this month, November. This was disclosed today, Nov. 7, by the Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Sambo while giving the scorecard of his ministry in Abuja. He said adequate security has been put in place to ensure the safety of passengers. The Minister, however, did not give any specific date for the resumption. Sambo said the ministry has learnt enough lessons from the attack in March which claimed the lives of several passengers leading to the suspension of train service on the Abuja-Kaduna route.
