The National Inland Waterways Authority, NIWA, on Thursday, said over 65 per cent of cargo coming into Nigeria through the Lagos port ends up in Onitsha and Aba in the Southeast. Managing Director of NIWA, Dr George Moghalu, disclosed this when he featured at the 52nd Session of the State House Briefing organised by the Presidential Communications Team, at the State House, Abuja. He also said that everything is in place for the movement of Cargo in Onitsha River Port even though he explained that it is the owner of the cargo that will determine the movement. Moghalu, who was providing updates on the agency’s activities, however noted that the current road network infrastructure cannot withstand the sheer volume of traffic required to move cargo from the southeast to other parts of the country. This, he said, necessitated recent efforts by NIWA to provide water inroads to the northern part of the country. He said that water transportation would help to reduce the weight of the heavy dut...

Sowore Faults Court Order On LP's Lekki Tollgate Rally

Sowore Faults Court Order On LP's Lekki Tollgate Rally The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, has condemned the court order preventing supporters of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, from staging a rally at the Lekki Tollgate in Lagos State on October 1. He expressed his displeasure with the order on his Twitter handle after the Federal High Court in Lagos ordered the party and its supporters not to gather at the Lekki Tollgate on Wednesday. Sowore went on to say that his rejection of the court's decision does not imply that he is endorsing any candidate for the 2023 election other than himself. He tweeted, “It is completely wrong for anyone to have gone to court to stifle a legitimate political gathering by #PeterObi supporters at #Lekkitollgate and equally dangerous that a judge gave an order stopping the gathering. It is a matter of time before a crazy injunction is granted that opposition groups can’t campaign in ...

The SKELETON of the JUNIOR STUDENT who was locked inside a LOCKER by his seniors as a prank and FORGOTTEN:

The SKELETON of the JUNIOR STUDENT who was locked inside a LOCKER by his seniors as a prank and FORGOTTEN: Sometimes what breaks our heart isn’t because our loved ones have died, but the manner in which they did. Year was 2001. A junior student in a boarding school had gone to the school cafeteria, to get snacks during the routine break time. He walks past a group of senior students and quietly gesticulates in greeting, he continues on his way and had only barely walked a few steps after this when he was ordered to come back. “We are your mates now na, because you’re carrying a bottle of yoghurt and meat pie that’s why you can’t greet. Common submit those things before I daze you.” One of the seniors commands. And apprehensively he does. “We would make sure we deal with you, such that anywhere you hear our footsteps you’d shiver with respect, idiot!” Another threatened. “But I greeted you all, I...” And as he makes to speak his peace, his words are met with a loud smack to his face, sh...
