You Can Now Lick Your Wounds, Tinubu Tells Lawan

T he presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has taken a swipe at the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, telling him that he (Lawan) can now lick his wounds. Tinubu said this on Wednesday while delivering his acceptance speech at Eagle Square, Abuja after he was declared the winner of the APC presidential primary. The former governor of Lagos State said he was upset that Lawan competed with him for the party’s ticket, mocking the Senate President for losing the race. “To the legislature, Senate President Ahmad Lawan, I would have been a little upset because you compete with me. But it is over now because you can easily lick your wounds,” Tinubu said. He however thanked Lawan for his efforts as a parliamentarian in moving Nigeria forward. Tinubu polled 1,271 votes to defeat 13 other aspirants, including a former Transport Minister, Rotimi Ameachi and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who scored 316 and 235 votes respectively.

S im Fubara Supporters Beat up EFCC Officials In Rivers State Some supporters of the Rivers State People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Sim Fubara beat up officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday night. It was gathered that the EFCC operatives attempted to arrest Mr. Fubara as the chartered plane carrying him and other PDP members landed at the Omagwa Airport in Rivers State from Abuja. The operatives were beaten as they made to arrest the PDP flag bearer who had gone to Abuja to receive his certificate of return. It is unclear if the anti-graft agency officials suffered serious injuries. The EFCC had declared the PDP candidate wanted over a N117 billion alleged fraud.

Omokri stated this while reacting to the emergence of the former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu as the flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress, APC. Reacting, Omokri, a former presidential aide, claimed that Atiku would beat Tinubu in the presidential election. In a post on his Facebook page, Reno wrote, “far as I am concerned, HE Atiku should start writing his inauguration speech. As long as God spares his life, I do not see anything stopping him from winning the 2023 election.
