  P HOTONEWS: Lawmaker Protests Barefoot, Demands Buhari Secure Release Of Abducted Train Passengers The lawmaker representing Ede-North/Ede-South/Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency in Osun State at the House of Representatives, Bamidele Salam, on Wednesday, held a one-man protest against insecurity in Nigeria. Salam, who was dressed in black, walked barefoot from the Unity Fountain in the Maitama area of the Federal Capital Territory to the National Assembly Complex, with a placard demanding that the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) do more to secure the freedom of the abducted victims of the Abuja-Kaduna train attack.

Germany to supply Kyiv with anti-aircraft missiles and radar systems

  G erman Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on Wednesday that his country will supply Ukraine with new anti-aircraft missiles and radar systems, stepping up arms deliveries amid criticism that Germany isn’t doing enough to help Kyiv in its time of need. Scholz told MPs that the government has decided to provide Ukraine with IRIS-T missiles developed by Germany together with other NATO nations, and radar systems to help locate enemy artillery. It came in the face of claims at home and abroad that Germany has been slow to provide Ukraine with the weapons it needs to defend itself against the Russian onslaught. While many European nations have sent heavy weaponry to Ukraine, Germany has up until now limited itself to ammunition and lighter armaments. West Ham defender,Kurt Zouma has been sentenced to 180 hours community service and banned from keeping cats for five years. The 27-year-old Frenchman showed no emotion as he was handed the sentence at Thames Magistrates’ Court in east  London  on Wednesday. He drew international condemnation after footage emerged of him volleying the pet across his kitchen, before throwing a pair of shoes at it and slapping its head, saying: “I swear I’ll kill it.” District judge Susan Holdham described the actions as “disgraceful and reprehensible” Zouma pleaded guilty last week to two counts of causing unnecessary suffering to a cat, after blaming the family pet for damaging a chair. Ms Holdham said: “The cat looked up to you to care for its needs. “On that date in February you did not provide for its needs but you caused unnecessary suffering for your own amusement.” His two  Bengal  male cats have since been signed over to be rehomed.
