FCT Court Orders Wike’s Son to Produce American Passport in $2.1m Land Dispute

A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), sitting in Maitama, Abuja, has ordered Jordan Wike, son of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, to produce his American international passport before the court in an ongoing $2.1 million land dispute.

Justice Sylvanus Oriji issued the order on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, following an application by counsel to the claimants, Hamza Dantani, during the resumed hearing of the case.

The matter, filed under suit number CV/008/2026, was instituted by Safwan Garba GY and GY Global Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited against Jordan Wike.

The passport became a major point in Tuesday's proceedings after Jordan told the court during cross-examination that he was outside Nigeria on September 26, 2025, the same date the claimants allege that $2.1 million was delivered in connection with a proposed land transaction in Abuja.

How the $2.1m Land Dispute Started

According to the claimants, they first met Jordan in London and subsequently developed a relationship before meeting again in Abuja about three months later.

They alleged that they later approached him for assistance in facilitating the acquisition of land within the Federal Capital Territory.

The claimants told the court that Jordan agreed to assist with securing 30 hectares of land in Katampe and another 30 hectares in Guzape.

They further alleged that Jordan demanded $2.1 million as facilitation fees for the proposed transactions.

According to their account, Jordan allegedly told them that $2 million of the amount was intended for his father, Nyesom Wike, while the remaining $100,000 represented his personal share.

The claimants alleged that the $2.1 million was delivered on September 26, 2025, in the presence of Adamu Sani, Aliyu Sarki and Sai Wani, while Jordan was accompanied by one Onor Sandy.

They further alleged that after the money was delivered, the proposed land acquisitions were not completed and the funds were not refunded.

The claimants also alleged that Jordan subsequently became unreachable.

These allegations are part of the claims before the court and have not been established by a final judgment.

Jordan Wike Denies the Allegations

Jordan denied the allegations during Tuesday's proceedings and adopted his statement on oath in which he disputed the claims brought against him.

He was represented in court by senior lawyer Ogwu Onoja, SAN.

Several documents were also tendered through Jordan during the hearing.

During cross-examination by Dantani, Jordan repeatedly denied knowledge of matters and documents raised by the claimants' counsel.

The proceedings subsequently turned to questions concerning his whereabouts on September 26, 2025.

Passport Becomes Key Point in Cross-Examination

Dantani asked Jordan where he was on September 26, 2025.

Jordan told the court that he was not in Nigeria on that date.

Counsel then asked him which international passport he used to travel outside the country.

Jordan responded that he travelled with his American international passport and indicated that he could produce the document if required.

Following the response, Dantani asked the court to direct Jordan to produce the passport before the court.

Justice Oriji granted the application and ordered Jordan to produce the American passport.

The order followed Jordan's own evidence about the document he said he used to travel on the date in question. The directive is part of the ongoing proceedings and does not, by itself, amount to a finding on the truth or otherwise of the underlying $2.1 million allegations.

Court Also Orders Handwriting and Signature Samples

The passport application was not the only request made by the claimants' counsel during the hearing.

Dantani also asked the court to direct Jordan to write his full name five times and append his signature five times on a plain sheet of paper.

The application was not opposed by the defence.

Justice Oriji consequently granted the request.

The development formed part of the evidence-gathering process as the parties continued to challenge and examine documents and testimony connected with the dispute.

Why September 26, 2025 Is Important to the Case

The date of September 26, 2025 has emerged as an important point in the proceedings because of the different accounts surrounding the alleged payment.

The claimants allege that the $2.1 million was delivered on that date in connection with the proposed acquisition of land in Katampe and Guzape.

Jordan, however, told the court that he was outside Nigeria on the same date and that he travelled using his American international passport.

That testimony prompted the application for the production of the passport.

The document could therefore become relevant to the court's examination of the evidence concerning Jordan's movements and the events surrounding the date identified by the claimants.

However, the significance of the document will ultimately depend on the evidence presented before the court and how the parties' respective cases are determined during the trial.

Case Remains Before the FCT High Court

The case remains at the hearing stage, with both sides presenting evidence in support of their respective positions.

Jordan has denied the allegations against him, while the claimants are seeking to establish their account of the alleged land transaction and the $2.1 million payment.

No final judgment has been delivered in the matter.

Justice Oriji adjourned the case until Wednesday for continuation of the hearing.

The next proceedings are expected to provide further evidence as the court continues to examine the claims, the defence and the documents placed before it.

For now, the court's immediate order is that Jordan Wike produce the American international passport he identified during cross-examination.
